United Breweries net profit at Rs 98 cr

United Breweries Ltd (UBL) today posted net profit of Rs 98.64 crore for the quarter ended June 30.

The company had posted a net profit of Rs 71.04 crore during the corresponding period last fiscal.

Total income from operations for the company stood at Rs 1,225.82 crore for the April-June quarter of 2012-13 financial year as against Rs 952.54 crore in the same quarter last fiscal, UBL said in a BSE filing.

Millennium Beer Industries, United Millennium Breweries, UB Nizam Breweries, Chennai Breweries and UB Ajanta Breweries have been amalgamated with the company on various dates during the previous financial year, it added.

"The figures for the quarter ended June 30, 2012 are not comparable with those of corresponding periods of the previous year," the filing added.

The company said strong beer brands continue to drive its overall volumes, with a growth rate of 23 per cent, while the mild beer volumes declined by 9 per cent in line with the market.

"The greenfield brewery in Nanjangud is expected to commence production in Q2 and expansions at other breweries are underway as planned," the filing added.
