Pune, Aug 17: Ventura, UK’s leading outsourcing provider and a wholly owned subsidiary of Next plc., a £2,858 million Footsie company, has set up operations in India with an investment of £10 million for a 2,000 seater operation.
Ventura is the latest entrant into India’s $5.7 billion BPO industry which employs 3.25 lakh people. At 2,000 seats, Ventura India would account for about 20% of the parent’s total revenues. Anupam Arun, country head of Ventura India said clients in the UK prefer an onshore/offshore mix of services rather than total off-shoring. This model was less risky and would face less resistance and more irreversible commitment from clients, he said.
The Pune centre is the first customer contact centre outside the UK for the £131 million company which has branches in Cardiff, Leeds and South Yorkshire. It has been in the contact centre management business for 35 years and has a workforce of 7,500. Its clients in the UK include Barclays, British Gas, and Thames Water.
