UK minister meets missing student’s mother
Anna Soubry is in India with a business delegation on a two-day visit ahead of British Prime Minister David Cameron’s visit in February. She held meetings with Dr Devi Shetty of Naryana Hrudayalaya Hospital and Karnataka Health Minister Aravind Limbavalli in Bangalore.
The mother of the missing student, Mahuya Pal, was provided a brief audience with the visiting British official and was assured support and updates on efforts to trace her son. Souvik went missing after he was reportedly forced to leave a New Year’s eve party that he had gone to attend with friends.
“My heart goes out to the family. I myself have made inquiries and wide publicity has been issued. The family needs to know what’s happening. It’s very important,’’ Soubry said after her interaction with the Karnataka minister.
Mahuya Pal sought more concerted efforts to trace her son, including raising the issue at higher levels in the UK.
