The Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) released 13,699 new domestic connections to the people living below poverty line (BPL) so far under the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojna (RGGVY).
The Nigam has also provided C.F. Ls free of cost to the new (BPL) consumers. It was planned to release 1,10,159 connections under the scheme.
Giving details, a spokesman said that the Nigam has started execution of developmental works in its command area under the schemes sanctioned by the Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) to implement the RGGVY for which a sum of Rs 104.34 crore was sanctioned to strengthen the distribution system in district Panchkula, Ambala, Yamuna Nagar, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Karnal, Panipat, Sonipat, Rohtak, Jhajjar and Jind.
The electricity consumers of 3567 villages would be benefited
with this scheme by way of improved distribution system, better voltage and least interruptions.
