Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath met the Mayor of London Boris Johnson on Monday. Nath reportedly told Boris that India could look at transit-oriented development, in line with London.
“London has been successful with urban regeneration. One of the ideas we are trying to implement now is transit-oriented development and London has gone ahead with this,” Nath said.
Four transit-oriented development corridors have already been identified in Delhi.
“We also spoke of the process followed for framing of their master plan. Since Lutyens’ Delhi was built by the British, we can also seek their help in heritage management,’’ Nath said.
Mayor Boris said the discussion was very fruitful. Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit also met Mayor Boris, who commended the initiatives by the city government in improving the environment.
