The crime branch of Pune police has arrested three persons who allegedly cheated people by promising them personal loans at less rate of interest from different banks across the city.

Acting on a tip-off to police havaldar Sanjay Dalvi, a police team led by inspector Sunil Patil arrested Samir Rajesh Salukhe alias Sachin Kakade (26), a native of Thane and currently staying in Chinchwad, and Chetan Dhande alias Irfan Iqbal Shaikh (21), a native of Jalgaon currently residing in Shivajinagar, from near Mangala multiplex.

Investigation revealed they cheated people by promising them loans at 13 and 16 per cent interests from different banks. They used to take bearer cheques from people and allegedly withdraw money for their personal use and did not provide any loans.

Crime branch confirmed their involvement in a cheating case registered at Mundhwa police station a few days ago.

Police also arrested Vivekkumar Jabuwani alias Patel (20), a resident of Bijli Nagar in Pimpri, for allegedly providing fake Aadhaar card to the suspects. The duo had allegedly used the card for clearing the bearer cheques.

Police said suspects are also involved in a vehicle theft case registered at Haveli police station.
