Authorities at the Amritsar Central Jail on Wednesday recovered two bullets, meant for a 12 bore LG gun, from Ranjit Singh Rana, the prime accused in ASI Ravinderpal Singh murder case. The bullets, Amritsar Jail Superintendent Amrik Singh Waraich said, were recovered “during a search of articles that were given to him by his uncle Fuman Singh, a resident of Bhagupur village who had come to meet Rana on Wednesday.” Waraich said that a note ( rukka ) was sent to the police for registration of a case. Amritsar Commissioner of Police Ram Singh confirmed that police had received a note from jail authorities, stating that two bullets were recovered from Rana. “We are investigating the matter and action will be taken as per law,” Singh said, before adding that a case under sections of the Arms Act and The Prisons Act was registered after police received a note from jail authorities. “Fuman Singh had left by the time jail officials recovered the bullets,” Jail Superintendent Waraich said before adding that Rana denied knowing anything about the bullets. Commissioner Ram Singh, on the other hand, said the note sent by jail authorities did not mention anyone else and hence the case has been registered only against Rana.
