Turmeric, Jeera prices decline on subdued demand

Turmeric and jeera prices fell by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today on subdued demand from retailers and stockists amid adequate stocks.

Turmeric prices fell by Rs 100 to Rs 6,300-9,600 per quintal.

Jeera common and jeera best quality also declined by Rs 100 each to conclude at Rs 13,900-14,100 and Rs 16,900-17,500 per quintal, respectively.

Marketmen said subdued demand from retailers and stockists against adequate stocks, mainly pulled down turmeric and jeera prices in the wholesale kirana market here.

The following are today's quotations: Ajwain 10,000-15,000, black pepper (per kg) 425-560, betel-nut (kg) 180-200, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 800-900 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 950-1,050.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 760-900, cardamom (colour robin) 750-890, cardamom bold 750-850, cardamom extra (bold) 950-1,080 and cloves (kg) 620-700.
