Turmeric prices fell by 1.21 per cent to Rs 4,916 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators offloaded their positions largely due to adequate supplies against subdued demand in the local market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in December fell by Rs 60, or 1.21per cent, to Rs 4,916 per quintal with an open interest of 15,380 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in April shed Rs 14, or 0.25 per cent, to Rs 5,530 per quintal in a tade volume of 8,175 lots.

Market analysts attributed offloading of positions by speculators against subdued demand in domestic markets.
