Textbook scam witness turns hostile
Charanjeet Singh had taken charge of the district project coordinator after the co-accused Kiran Mishra retired.
The counsel for Sanjeev Kumar, the former IAS officer, who is the main accused in the textbook scam case said, “He contradicted his statements recorded by the police at the time of his arrest. He also claimed that he had not taken anyone’s name when his statements were recorded by the police”.
Another witness who was to be produced on Tuesday is the Investigating Officer of the case, Surinder Singh. The CBI requested the court to examine him in the end. In the previous hearing, one of the witnesses, Raj Kumar had turned an approver. Raj Kumar had confessed that he had made wrong quotations for a projector system and an LCD television.
The former Haryana IAS officer Sanjiv Kumar and seven others alleged in the corruption case involving printing of textbooks were acquitted on grounds of lack of evidence by a special CBI court. The accused had been discharged in six cases of the seven chargesheets filed against him.
