



Bangalore: Bangalore-based optical networking player Tejas Networks has announced 180 per cent growth in sales
revenues over the previous year.
The company has also bagged a total of 10 new telecom customers for its TJ100 next generation optical networking family of products. Tejas clocked FY03 with revenues of a little over Rs 28 crore (as compared to, Rs 10 crore in FY02) and estimates Rs 60-90 crore as revenues this year.
The first player in the Indian market to commercially deploy products based on the latest next generation Ethernet over SDH network, Tejas’ new customers include the Indian railways arm - RailTel (for its 6400 km optical fibre network), basic services players such as Hughes Telecom, Tata Teleservices, Shyam Telecom, DishnetDSL, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL), etc. It has also forged OEM partnerships with overseas and domestic players like Hintron Technologies (Taiwan) and MIC Electronics from India. Tejas’ chief executive officer and managing director Sanjay Nayak said that, globally the potential customer base of telecom players was roughly over 100, of which Tejas had been able to bag 10 top-notch accounts.
“In India, we estimate our market share to be in the 30-40 per cent range and our
revenues are predominantly from the domestic telecom market. Now, we intend to move to tap the foreign market,” Mr Nayak said.
The company, which was started two years ago, has well-known Silicon Valley player Dr Gururaj Desh Deshpande and Sycamore Networks as one of the key investors.
