Hyderabad, Oct 6: The hunt for land, to house the Rs 1 lakh Nano car project of Tata Motors, is slowly intensifying. After arranging site visits to Aluru and Sitarampuram on Sunday, government officials on Monday took the Tata team to an alternative site location in Wargal in Medak district in Andhra Pradesh.
According to government officials, “Executives from Tata Motors have been very keen on looking for land available only within 40-50 kilometers radius of Hyderabad. So, we showed Kulkarni and his team a large chunk of land at Wargal. The government has sufficient land at the proposed site and can offer as much the company asks for."
It may be recalled, that a delegation from Tata Motors led by its managing director, G Ravi Kant had met the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Rajasekhara Reddy earlier on Sunday and made visits to some site locations at Aluru and Sitarampuram. The team had reached Hyderabad after inspecting couple of sites in Karnataka. During the meeting, the AP government had proposed three sites of 1,000-acre each for the project including parcels of land at Naidupet in Nellore district.
