teachers — at school, college and university — others, such as our parents, who teach us to stand on our own feet, or our friends, who we fall back on after a bitter fall, are teachers nonetheless. To me, Teachers’ Day is a celebration of knowledge in its purest form as it passes from one individual to another, in the form of words, actions and even thoughts. Therefore, celebration of Teachers’ Day is not just an opportunity to express our gratitude and appreciation to our teachers, but to celebrate the spirit of teaching and the unbroken chain of knowledge being upheld by them.

The true teacher defends his students against his own personal influence. He inspires self-distrust. He guides their eyes from himself to the spirit that quickens him. Every individual is an enlarged replica of their teachers.
