TCS launches its Co-Innovation Network

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) launched the TCS Co-Innovation Network to take the company to the next level of innovation and future growth. In addition to the in-house dedicated R&D, TCS is attempting to get into a more collaborative innovation model involving collaboration with expertise beyond TCS. The President, APJ Abdul Kalam launched the network in Pune to mark the 25 years of TCS’ R&D arm, the Tata Research Design and Development Centre (TRDDC), on Wednesday.

Tata Group chairman Ratan Tata said the greatest asset in the country was the keen minds of the people and those minds need to be challenged by tasks that are impossible and paths that are not traversed before.

Tata hoped that innovation would grow and demonstrate to the world what the country, its youth and our minds were capable of.

S Ramadorai, CEO and MD, TCS, said this was a paradigm shift in thinking at TCS and taking the culture of innovation to the next level so that the company was building a core innovation engine for sustained competitive advantage. Some disruptive innovations could emerge through this kind of collaborative network as it is believed. “Innovation of the future is not how much I can do alone but how I connect to the world,” he said.

Ramadorai added research-led innovation was the key driver of the TCS growth story over the last 25 years and TRDDC inputs had played a key role in that.
