Tax breaks likely on home, accident cover

hiking the Section 80-D limit to Rs 1 lakh per annum and expanding its ambit to include other general insurance products like home cover as well.
Pointing out that insurance products in India are largely bought for the tax breaks they offer and as a means of additional savings, Amarnath Ananthanarayanan, CEO, Bharti AXA General Insurance said, “Steps like removing service tax and increasing the 80D benefit would go a long way in improving the low level of insurance penetration in the country.”
