On October 1, students of classes VI, VII, XI and XII of The Indian School, Sadiq Nagar, interacted with Tara Gandhi Bhattacharjee, grand-daughter of Mahatma Gandhi. Tara Gandhi Bhattacharjee is the vice-chairperson of Gandhi Smriti, Darshan Samiti and the Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust. She spoke about the relevance of Gandhiji after 67 years of Independence and the values he stood for. She recounted various anecdotes and memories from her childhood.
This was followed by an interactive session, during which students asked questions such as ‘Why did Mahatma Gandhi refuse to become the first Prime Minister of independent India?’, ‘Does globalisation refers to overlooking Indian values?’, ‘Whether keeping moun vrat is still relevant?’ and so on.
Meeting of unaided private schools
The first meeting of the National Coordination Committee was held on September 28 at Bal Bharati Public School, Pitampura, under the chairmanship of newly elected convenor S K Bhattacharya of the national coordination committee of independent schools and the president of action committee of private unaided recognised schools. Representatives from Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Tamil Naidu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi participated in the meeting, which deliberated on issues related to the protection and promotion of autonomy of private schools, regulation of school fees, impact of RTE (Right To Education) on quality of education, confusions related to implementation of RTI in private schools and interference of government in matters of private schools.
Red Roses honours grandparents
Grandparents of students of classes I & II of Red Roses Public School, Saket, were invited to a special function organised in their honour. The function, which was held at the amphitheatre, began with a tilak ceremony. Principal Anuradha Mehta highlighted the warmth, care and affection grandparents shower on grandchildren. Karan Mehta, grandson of school director Mrs Nayyar, who presided over the function, expressed his gratitude and attributed his success to her. Children presented gifts to their grandparents, which was followed by a group photograph.
St thomas MoU on technology interface
In a breakthrough step towards strengthening academic-technology interface, St Thomas School has entered into an MoU with SAE (Society of Automobile Engineers) and introduced AWIM (A World in Motion)
