Tapping the organised laundry business

: At a time when the business of laundry in the country is mostly controlled by the unorganised sector, Diamond Fabcare has tied-up with Brown Gouge of Australia to launch 100 outlets in the country under the brand Wardrobe. It also plans to launch about 300 pick up and drop centres. The company plans to invest Rs 150 crore for opening the largest number of retail outlets in the country.

Wardrobe promises to use 100% RO water, fabric friendly high quality chemicals, experienced and skilled manpower and strong supply chain system backed by a customised software .

Says Jyoti Maheshwari, chairman, Diamond Fabcare Pvt Ltd, “Our pre - launch research showed customers’ dissatisfaction and a wide gap between the need and what is available in this largely fragmented and unorganised market segment of dry cleaning and laundry. We are committed to give all our customers the utmost fabric care solution.”An engineer by profession, Maheshwari began manufacturing optical whitening agents (OWA) in 1969. He grew his business substantially to become Asia’s largest OWA manufacturer.

Getting big in mini metros

After launching Catty Shark’s scotch whisky in India, Focus Brands (India) is now looking to expand its market share in metros and mini-metros. A part of Jubilant group, Focus Brands specialises in brand development and works with international brands from independent wines and spirit companies that are without local representation and have significant potential for profitable growth.

Says Ramesh Mani, CEO, Focus Brands (India), “We are already present in most of the top 10 cities in the country, which constitute about 80% of the Scotch sales, and are doing extremely well in terms of sales volumes.” Focus Brands (India), which is now part of the Jubilant Group, has a joint venture with Cutty Sark International for marketing its scotch whisky in India.

Rewarding quality education

To reward excellence in education, motivate educators and provide a platform to showcase leadership in the education sector, Educomp Solutions Ltd has announced over 100 India Education Awards worth over Rs 1 crore in total for teachers, students and schools.

The awards will target schools in India through a broad division into six zones.
