The Delhi Police received another breakthrough in the Tanishq heist case with the arrest of the 10th accused, Nadeem, from the Vasant Kunj area, New Delhi, today. Nadeem was one of the 12 accused who committed a sensational dacoity at the Tanishq showroom in Manimajra on the intervening night of January 12-13.
The joint operation of the Delhi and Chandigarh police succeeded in solving the case in less than 72 hours and eight of the accused were arrested. All the stolen jewellery was also recovered from the accused’s possession. The eight accused are presently in Chandigarh Police’s custody.
Nadeem is a criminal wanted by the Ghaziabad police in connection with a murder case. A drop-out from class IX, he committed a murder at Ghaziabad in 2006 and was arrested by the police.
He stayed in jail for around 13 months before being released on bail. Ever since he got out of jail, he was wanted by the police who were on the lookout for him.
It was on a secret tip-off that the Delhi police team managed to trace Nadeem’s hideout and nab him. Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West) HGS Dhaliwal said, “Nadeem is a hardcore criminal and was wanted by the UP police as well. We were on his trail for the last few days and could manage to nab him today. Since UT SSP Naunihal Singh is my batchmate, the coordination with Chandigarh Police was even better in the Tanishq heist case, as a result of which we could crack one of the biggest heists in north India.”
“A few more accused are still at large who shall also be arrested soon,” added Dhaliwal.
