Hours after Narayan Sai was arrested on Wednesday, the Surat-based sexual assault victim said she wanted strict punishment for Sai that would act as a deterrent to self-styled godmen who misuse the position of power and respect that they hold among their followers.
“I am happy that Narayan Sai has been arrested. But I am not satisfied. I want him to be strictly punished so that no such godman ever dares to do such acts with any of their sevaks,” said the victim, who is currently taking her first year LLB examinations.
“I am passing through a crucial period as the first year exams are currently on. I have to concentrate on studies, but it is becoming difficult for me as I keep thinking about the incidents related to the case,” said the victim who, along with her sister, had filed a sexual harassment case against Asaram and his son at the Jehangiurpura police station in Surat on October 6.
While the elder sister lodged a complaint against Asaram (which was transferred to Ahmedabad police), the younger sibling had accused Sai of sexual assault and illegal confinement. “I have made a decision to become a lawyer and fight for the rights of women. I think taking the decision of filing a complaint against Sai is also a tough job for me, but I did it with the support of my husband and my family members. I filed the complaint keeping the larger interest of women in mind,” she added.
