While Narendra Modi, Arvind Kejriwal and Rahul Gandhi shared the top honours for newsmakers in India according to Yahoo India's 2013 Year in Review, the most searched names were Sunny Leone, Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif.
The only politician in the top searched names list is the Gujarat CM, but at a distant 10th position behind a bunch of Bollywood heroines and starlets.
The top cricketers in the India was no surprise either as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and R Ashwin shared the top slots. While Sachin Tendulkar did not make it to the top 10 list, his retirement was the 'biggest cricketing moment’ of the year.
It seems the falling Rupee was at the back of everyone's mind as Raghuram Rajan, the newly appointed Governor of Reserve Bank of India, topped the list of Finance Newsmakers above Jignesh Shah and Arundhati Bhattacharya. 100 years of cinema was the top Bollywood Moments, followed by the demise of Pran, India's favourite villain.
Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone was the top Bollywood newsmaker of the year, while the release of Vishwaroopam and incarceration of Sanjay Dutt made a lot of news online.
While Jaisalmer in Rajasthan, Bekal and Wayanad in Kerala where the top destinations, unique locations like Tranquebar in Tamil Nadu and Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh also made it to the list.
