It was in 1997 that Kunwer Sachdev, then dealing with cable TV accessories, got fed up with the power cuts in his locality and his locally purchased inverter not keeping pace with these power cuts. He kept his cable TV business aside and went full swing in production of inverters. This was also the time when the inverter market had just about become a household name. But since the market was getting crowded by local manufacturers Mr Sachdev thought it was good time to get into the branded segment.

Unfortuna-tely, he could not convince ba-nks about his project the result of which was that he did not get loan. He put in whatever money he earned from his ca-ble TV business and all that he could could collect and enter-ed the market in a small way.

Today, Mr Sachdev has a facility to manufacture four lakh inverters per annum and is running a professionally run companies with 15 senior professionals and he himself at the helm as the company CEO. Focussed Growth
Mr Sachdev admits that he eats, drinks and dreams inverters and UPS and is absolutely single track as far as his business is concerned. “I am not looking at any diversification into other products. I see large markets in inverters and UPS and plan just to concentrate on them,” he says.

Su Kam graduated from Mosfet to DSP technology based sine wave inverters in less than five years time. “Sine wave is the wave form of electricity supplied by the state electricity boards and all our household gadgets like TVs, refrigerators and airconditioners run on these wave therefore there is no incompatibility problem,” explains Mr Sachdev.

The company also claims that all these gadgets can be run on Su-Kam inverters and the tone and tenor of fans, tube lights etc don’t change when the electricity switches over from mains to inverters.

It also says that this technology aids power saving. Su-Kam has also recently introduced a plastic body heat resistant inverters with LED displays. Mr Sachdev adds that the plastic body sourced from GE Plastics used in this brand called Chic can take a temperature...
