: are? If you are going to retire soon and if your age is 40 or 45 plus, then we suggest you retire or partially retire the loan. Is your rate floating or fixed? if you had taken a fixed rate loan at say 7%-9% then you may be better off letting the loan be and investing the money in the market. Today’s fixed rate is 13%-15% and the home loan interest rates have risen rapidly since last year. But if you have a high floating interest rate, then repaying your loan is a better option. Most banks allow customers to make partial pre-payments, free of cost, which can be done by either reducing your EMI or by reducing the loan tenure. In case the EMI is a small part of your monthly expense, then keep it the same and reduce loan tenure.
