Sugar prices rise on less arrivals, pick up in demand

Sugar prices surged by Rs 50 per quintal in the national capital today on increased offtake by retailers and bulk consumers, against restricted supply from mills.

Marketmen said pick up in demand against less arrivals from mills mainly pushed up sweetener prices.

Sugar spot M-30 and S-30 prices improved by Rs 50 each to settle at Rs 3320-3470 and Rs 3300-3450 per quintal respectively.

Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices also hardened from Rs 3160-3300 and Rs 3140-3280 to settle at Rs 3200-3350 and Rs 3180-3430 per quintal respectively.

The following were today quotations per quintal:

Sugar ready: M-30 3,320-3,470, S-30 3,300-3,450. Mill delivery: M-30 3,200-3,350; S-30 3,180-3,330.

Sugar mill gate (including duty): Mawana 3345, Kinnoni 3440, Asmoli 3380, Dorala 3335, Budhana 3340, Thanabhavan 3340, Dhanora 3300, Simbholi 3420, Modi Nagar 3320, Khatuli 3330, Dhampur 3320, Ramala 3195, Bulandshar 3280, Anupshar 3190, Baghpat 3225, Morna 3210, Sakoti 3250, Chandpur 3265, Amroha 3265 and Nazibabad 3180.
