Mumbai: Pharmaceutical company Strides Acrolab on Friday said it has received regulatory approval for two of its drugs used in the treatment of potentially life-threatening infections.
The company has received US Food and Drug Administration approval for Sterile Vancomycin in two different strengths, Strides Acrolab informed in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
The drugs are in the strength of 500mg, 1 gram per vial and five gram vial pharmacy bulk package, the filing added.
The products are licensed to Akron-Strides LLC, which is a joint venture between Akron Inc and Strides Arcolab. "This is a very significant approval for the Strides Akron partnership and represents a tremendous opportunity in terms of its market size and profitability. Product launch is to happen in the first half of 2009," Strides Chief Executive Officer (International operations) Ravi Seth said.
Sterile Vancomycin is used in the treatment of potentially life-threatening infections which cannot be treated with other effective antimicrobial drugs.
