Chandigarh : Panjab University will organise All India University Archery (Men and Women) Championship from January 18 to January 22 next year. Interested teams can send their entries till January 8. A meeting of managers and coaches of the participating teams will be held at 4 pm on January 17, 2014, at PU Gymnasium Hall.

First DP Azad golf meet today

Chandigarh : Chandigarh Golf Association will organise First Dronacharya Desh Prem Azad Annual golf Championship for general public and media on December 7. The association conducted their quarterly meeting of executive committee on Friday and observed two minutes silence in the memory of late DP Azad. More than 30 entries have been confirmed for the tournament.

Vineet stars in Carmel win

Chandigarh : A three-wicket haul by Vineet (3 for 5) guided Mount Carmel School to a 72-run win over Gurukul School in a league match in the 16th Blessed Edmund Rice Cricket Tournament on Friday. Batting first, Mount Carmel School posted 144 for 7 in 20 overs. Rahul top scored with 35. For Gurkul School, Gagan claimed four wickets for 26 runs. In reply, Gurukul School were bundled out for a total of 72 runs. Mehul Bansal played a knock of 30 runs. For the winning team, Vineet claimed three wickets for five runs. In another match of the day, Saupin's School registered a 28-run win over St Soldier School.

Panchkula golfer Cheema extends lead on second day

Chandigarh: Panchkula golfer Angad Cheema maintained his lead in round two of the Dialog Enterprise International 2013 being played at the Royal Colombo Golf Club in Sri Lanka. Cheema shot a score of 10 on Friday to take his total to 34. Angad now enjoys a four-point lead over Sri Lanka's K Prabagaran.

The cut was declared at two points. Fifty-one professionals and one amateur made the cut.
