SpiceJet hires former Air Asia executive Kaneswaran Avili as its CCO

Low-cost carrier SpiceJet on Friday said that it has appointed Kaneswaran Avili as the airlines Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), a post which the former Tiger Airways and Air Asia executive will be taking over from April 1.

Avili, who has over a decade of experience in the aviation sector -- including several stints at low cost airlines -- had been a part the start up team of AirAsia in 2001. “At AirAsia, Mr Avili played a pivotal role in the airline’s cross border brand expansion into Thailand and Indonesia,” said a SpiceJet release.

He has also worked as an aviation consultant and advisor after leaving Air Asia.

Prior to joining SpiceJet, Avili had served as a director- commercial with Tiger Airways, in Singapore, since October 2012, accoridng to his LinkedIn profile.

“His deep domain knowledge on airline commercial across sales and distribution, revenue management, marketing, network planning, airline system and market penetration strategy would be key in transforming SpiceJet commercial capability and improving overall route and airline profitability,” said Sanjiv Kapoor, Chief Operating Officer, SpiceJet Ltd.

SpiceJet stock closed at Rs 16.05, up 0.63%, on Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), on Friday.
