A speeding Aston Martin owned by the Reliance Group allegedly rammed into two vehicles on Pedder Road early Sunday morning, the police said. Three people in one of the vehicles suffered minor injuries. The driver of the Aston Martin car is yet to be traced, the police said. A spokesperson for the Reliance Group described the accident as a “misjudgment on the part of the driver”, and claimed that the driver was produced before the police.
According to the police, the accident occurred at 1.30 am when the Aston Martin Rapide was travelling from Kemp’s Corner to Haji Ali. It allegedly rammed into a white Audi car near Prabhu Kunj apartments. The Audi jumped the divider and crashed into a stationary bus on the south-bound carriageway. The Aston Martin also hit a Toyota Corolla.“The Aston Martin was moving so fast that after the second collision, it came to a halt 150 m ahead,” said an officer.
“When we inspected the Aston Martin, we found a register saying that it was the property of Reliance Petrochemicals. Their representatives visited the police station, and assured us that they would produce the culprit,” he said.
However, a Reliance Group spokesperson said, “The driver did not flee the spot. He had accidentally pressed the accelerator, instead of brakes, while driving down a slope. The police are investigating the case.”
