Police say spat between couple; in another case, man held for molesting woman cop.

Amid the debate for stricter laws to curb violence against women, two incidents involving cops were reported in the city. In one incident, a constable allegedly assaulted the daughter of a police sub-inspector, and in the other incident a woman traffic constable on duty was allegedly molested.

In the first case, the constable was reported to be dating the woman, the 32-year-old daughter of an Assistant Sub Inspector.

She alleged that constable Madhukar Rane (35) attached to the local arms division of the Mumbai Police had slapped her on Monday night following a dispute. Although she has registered a complaint under Section 354 (assault or use of criminal force on woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code, police are taking it as a case of a spat between a couple.

Changing behaviour of police personnel

Varadhan | 26-Dec-2012Reply | Forward
The change in bevaiour of the police personnel across the country over the past 3 decades is very much bad & deterioriting. One example recent incident in Delhi where some policemen were beating some boys & girls who did not run but standing alone but even when they were not hitting them back OR resisting they were beaten up. It is time that they are given moral ethics training also (for example Meditation/Yoga must be mandatory for them-to relieve physical & mental stress-which helps a great extent). Police must be independent from the ruling party - may be,controlled by the respective Governor OR Judiciary of the respective states. Most of the time they have to do overtime that too giving security to the VVIPs/the politicians
