Silver futures prices trade higher as demand picks up

Amid pick up in demand in the spot market, firm global trend, silver prices traded higher by Rs 153 to Rs 63,614 per kg in futures trade today.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March month traded higher by Rs 153, or 0.24 per cent to Rs 63,614 per kg in business turnover of 1191 lots.

Similarly, the white metal for delivery in December contract gained Rs 138, or 0.22 per cent to Rs 61,735 per kg in 13,774 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in silver futures to pick up in demand in the spot market due to ongoing marriage season amid a firm global trend.

Meanwhile, silver gained 0.3 per cent to 33.22 dollar an ounce in Singapore.
