Taking weak cues from the global market, silver futures prices today fell 0.61 per cent to Rs 48,870 per kg as speculators trimmed positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver prices for delivery in December down by Rs 301, or 0.61 per cent, to Rs 48,870 per kg in business turnover of 897 lots.
Similarly, the white metal prices for delivery in the far-month March lost Rs 291, or 0.58 per cent, at Rs 50,000 per kg in three lots.
Market analysts said a weak trend in the precious metals overseas mainly put pressure on silver prices at futures trade here.
Globally, silver for spot delivery shed 0.32 per cent to USD 21.73 an ounce in Singapore today.
