Amid profit-booking by speculators, silver prices fell by 0.24 per cent, to Rs 53,843 per kg in futures trade today.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March fell by Rs 129, or 0.24 per cent, to Rs 53,843 per kg in business turnover of 3,583 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in May declined by Rs 111, or 0.20 per cent, to Rs 55,269 per kg in 510 lots.
Marketmen said profit-booking by participants mainly put pressure on the silver prices at futures trade but a firming trend overseas, capped the fall.
Meanwhile, silver rose 0.2 per cent to USD 29.07 an ounce in Singapore.
