Ronnie Screwvala, who had taken over as the Managing Director of Disney UTV India in February 2012, has now stepped down from his position last week. According to sources, several senior officials from the international company came down to the Disney UTV office in Mumbai for an important meeting, where Screwvala finally put in his papers. He has successfully managed integration efforts and set the foundations of long term growth for our business". The Walt Disney Company had acquired UTV, which was then owned by Screwvala and merged the two organisations. Later, Screwvala was appointed as its Managing Director. "It's been a fantastic seven-year working relationship with Disney. First as a Co-Shareholder and when Disney held a majority stake in UTV, and since February 2012 as the Managing Director of Disney UTV India. It has been a great experience to be part of the world’s number one entertainment company," stated Screwvala. He will be succeeded by Siddharth Roy Kapur, who is presently the Managing Director of Disney UTV - Studios. Kapur will take over the company's India operations effective from January 1, 2014 and Screwvala will assist in the transition till June 30.
