Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde on Sunday said that peace has returned to the Valley but did not commit himself on issue of revoking the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA).

He said the graph of violence has come down in the Valley and credited the people for it. “Peace has come to Kashmir. I want to thank the people of the Valley. It is your determination that has seen the end of terrorism,” Shinde said while addressing the Congress workers at Srinagar. “Government has taken steps to restore peace here. But they wouldn’t have succeeded without your cooperation.”

He said, the people of Kashmir fought terrorism and peace has returned.
