AICC general secretary Janardhan Dwivedi today defended Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for sharing the dais with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Kaithal, and said it was a government function organised by the Natinal Highway Authority of India (NHAI).
Chanting of 'NaMo slogans' and hooting of Hooda during the programme yesterday had caused embarrassment to the Chief Minister and his Congress party has not taken it lightly.
"It is oblivious that Hooda or any other chief minister of Congress would be present in government function organised in the state and attended by the Prime minister," Dwivedi told reporters.
Responding to another query about continued erosion of party base in the state, the AICC general secretary said "such things do happen and you need time to take further steps".
Reacting to large-scale defections in Haryana with senior leaders like Narinder Singh joining BJP and a host of leaders following suit, Dwivedi said that "such things normally happen under there circumstances".
