Seven persons were arrested on charges of theft from three railway stations in the capital. They are acccused of stealing laptops, mobile phones and purses of passengers.
Vinod Kumar alias Narender (43) and Rajkumar alias Sanjay alias Brijesh (30) were arrested from New Delhi railway station for allegedly stealing the laptop bag of a passenger who was travelling by Ahmedabad Rajdhani on February 14, police said on Sunday.
ďThey were arrested on February 15 and police recovered two laptops from their possession. Four cases were registered against them,Ē S B S Tyagi, DCP (Crime and Railways), said.
Vindhyachal and Jagdish Singh, both in their twenties, were arrested from Sarai Rohilla railway station and two stolen mobile phones recovered from them on February 15.
Three persons were arrested from Old Delhi railway station in three theft cases. While patrolling railway tracks near Lal Qila, police apprehended Govind (20) and recovered a mobile phone from him, which he said was stolen from a resident of Aurangabad in Bihar, police said.
Amir (21), a resident of Zafrabad in Seelampur, was arrested from platform 9 of Old Delhi railway station on February 15 when he was trying to steal a wallet from a passengerís pocket. The passenger was about to board Sadhbhawana Express.
Akram (23) was arrested for snatching a mobile phone from an advocate when he was travelling by Ahmedabad Mail on February 13, a police officer said.
