SummaryMy God (Narendra Modi) could not rise to the occasion under evil influence of Amit Shah: Vanzara

Stating that the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi-led government was not interested in protecting him and instead it has been clandestinely making all efforts to keep him and other officers in the jail to save its skin from CBI and gain political benefits, suspended IPS officer DG Vanzara, accused in several alleged fake encounter cases, tendered his resignation from the service Tuesday.

In the letter dated 1st September Vanzara has stated, "This government suddenly became vibrant and displayed a spur of sincere activities only when Amit Shah, former MoS, was arrested by CBI.... In contrast, when I along with Rajkumar Pandian and Dinesh MN were arrested by the CID crime, forget about providing legal services, nobody from the government bothered even to provide a lip service to us or to our family."

Accusing the government of betrayal and treachery Vanzara has blamed Shah as the reason behind transfer of Sohrabuddin Sheikh trial. He states, "I sincerely believe and state that for the legal and political intrigues, machinations and maneuverings of Amitbhai Shah, the trial of Sohrabuddin encounter case, followed by Tulsiram Prajapati case, would not have gone out of state. It goes without saying that the crueal act of transferring the case out of state has increased the agony of the jailed police officers on one hand and multiplied the hardships of their family members on the other hand."

Vanzara was first arrested in Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter case in 2007. He was also accused and arrested in Tulsiram Prajapati and Ishrat Jahan encounter as one of the key accused.

He has tendered the resignation to the additional chief secretary (home) from Sabaramti Central Jail where he is lodged.

He has also stated that he has been maintaining "graceful silence" for such a long period "only because of my supreme faith in and highest respect for Narendrabhai Modi, the chief minister of Gujarat, whom I used to adore like a God. But, I am sorry to state that my God could not rise to the occasion under the evil influence of Amit Shah...."
