The BSE Sensex today lost over 25 points in early trade, extending losses for the second straight session due to sustained selling by funds amid a weak trend in other Asian bourses.

Similarly, the wide-based the National Stock Exchange Nifty declined by 14.50 points, or 0.24 per cent, to 5,837.75.

Brokers said, sustained selling by funds amid weak trend in other Asian bourses in line with overnight losses in the US market, mainly influenced the trading sentiment here.

In the Asian region, Hong Kong's Hang Seng index was down by 0.50 per cent and Japan's Nikkei index shed 0.31 per cent in the morning trade today.

The US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.34 per cent lower in yesterday's trade.
