Sena’s bandh in Palghar total, peaceful
Press Trust of India: Thane, Nov 29 2012, 00:49 IST
The suspension of two cops in connection with the arrest of two girls over a Facebook post criticising the shutdown during the funeral of Shiv Sena leader Bal Thackeray has not gone down well with party supporters who called for a bandh in Palghar town here.
The Palghar Bar Association had also called for a bandh in courts on Wednesday to protest the transfer of the local Judicial Magistrate First Class who, according to them, had “promptly” granted bail for the two girls. Commercial establishments, schools and colleges remained shut and vehicles remained off roads, party sources said. Police said no untoward incident has been reported so far.
