Bhubaneswar: 'Scared' of honey bees, Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has changed his route in the state secretariat.
Patnaik, who had been entering the secretariat building though its main entrance, has changed his route ever since the bees came out of their hives due to unbearable heat.
"The chief minister is now using the elevator through the rear entrance as honey bees throng the main front entrance," a security personnel said.
Patnaik, who was happy over falling of a house lizard on his head before the election results which was taken as a sign of "raj yoga", was however, 'afraid' of honey bees, sources said.
There were at least four major honey bee hives in the secretariat.
Surprisingly, two big hives were hanging from the wall close to Patnaik's chamber in the secretariat.
When the security personnel and other officials suggested removal of the hives, Patnaik reportedly asked them not to touch the bees as they were considered good omen.
Now that bees had posed a threat to hundreds of employees and the chief minister himself, the senior officials were seriously considering removal of the hives.
"We cannot destroy bee-hives. Here also, we need chief minister's order," said a senior official.
