SC rejects plea against Naidu

The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to interfere with an Andhra Pradesh High Court order quashing criminal proceedings against TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu for allegedly cheating people by changing his stand on the formation of Telangana. A Bench of Justices S S Nijjar and Ranjana Prakash Desai dismissed a Hyderabad-based lawyer’s appeal against the HC’s order.
The police had registered a case against Naidu—on the direction of a lower court —on the advocate’s complaint that the leader had cheated the people of Telangana as he had promised in his party’s election manifesto that he would support the formation of a separate state but had changed his stance after the polls.
