Berhampur, Orissa: The All-India State Bank Officers Federation (AISBOF) on Saturday rejected the proposed 17.5 percent wage hike and pension benefits and demanded a separate wage revision for them.
"We do not agree with the proposed salary hike for bank employees. The SBI employees demand that the increase should be at par with the salary of the Central government employees," AISBOF vice-president SK Haldar said here.
The Indian Banks Association (IBA) and United Federation of Banking Unions (UFBU) representing nine bank employee associations had agreed to the wage hike and pension benefits after a prolonged discussion in Mumbai yesterday.
Haldar, who was here to attend the zonal conference of the SBI Officers Association, said AISBOF will decide its future course of action on Tuesday.
The three lakh SBI employees are ready for an indefinite strike to demand a separate wage revision at par with Central government employees, he added.

It was shame that iba chairman told that aisbisf and aisbof demand special provision in sbi clause in the 11th hour. Without knowing the rules of previous settlement how he had comment on this. Every settlement regarding special pay and other pension related issues was settled at the state bank level. In 1993 wage settlement also iba allocated 120 crores for sbi employees. SBI employees fought for other bank employees 2nd option pension scheme. They were participated in the strike also without getting any benefit. Unfortunately UFBU signed the settlement without weight for a day or two. Imperial bank of india and the state bank of india employees getting 3rd benefit of pension scheme. We welcome if it extended to other nationalised bank also. We appeal to IBA plese gone through the previous settlement and direct the sbi management and also the govt. to compensate the loss of 2nd option pension scheme to SBI employees. Govt.will come forward to settle the issues amicably.

SBI IS LOSING ITS IDENTITY DUE TO INDIFFERENT ATTITUDE OF
IBA/CENTRAL GOVT - NOW OTHER BANK EMPLOYEES HAVE ALSO JOINED
HANDS NOT REALISING FOR A MOMENT THEIR PRESENT POSITION IS ONLY ON ACCOUNT OF COMBINED STRENGTH-HENCE THE ONLY WAY OUT IS TO CALL FOR AN INDEFINITE STRIKE IN SBI TILL THE GOVT RELENTS

NATIONALIZED BANKS, SBI AND RBI THIS IS BANKING SECTOR. WHATEVER OTHER BANKS ARE GETTING IN SETTLEMENT PLUS SOME COMPENSATION IS BEING PAID TO SBI EMPLOYEES. AFTER SBI CONCLUDES THEIR AGREEMENT ON THAT SOME MORE WILL BE RECEIVED BY RBI EMPLOYEES. IT IS FACT. BECAUSE WE HAVE ONLY ONE RBI, NOBODY KNOWS ABOUT IT. SINCE SBI STAFF HAS ALREADY PENSION BENEFIT, WHY THEY HAVE TO FOREGO THAT BENEFIT. HENCE, THEIR DEMAND IS JUSTIFIED

Asking for 10% pension hike by Kolkata based SBI officers' union leader, can%u2019t see any light. First of all, sub-staffs to scale-I officers in SBI have always been drawing 50% pension on their retirement as like their counterparts in Nationalised banks. The difference starts from Scale-II draws 46% pension and gradually in upper scales it reduces to 40%.So fighting for an executive in the rank of CM in Scale-IV to CGM in Special scale-I for this 50% is how far justified and acceptable to the rank and file is certainly questionable. A sub-staff sacrificing his day%u2019s salary for the cause of a GM or CGM, looks funny as AISBOF alone can%u2019t go for an indefinite strike without NCBE outfit of SBI award staff union. It can also be recalled that both unions were jointly participated on one week long strike for pension updating. NCBE does not have much base in other banks apart from SBI. So it can be confined itself completely with SBI employees cause. But AIBOC position is quite different. Apart from SBI it is also majority officers union in most of the nationalised banks. So there are all apprehensions from every nook and corner that G.D.Nadaf may lose his General Secretary position either in AIBOC or in AISBOF, if he fails to balance and settle things of these superior & inferior complexes between SBI and Nationalised Banks on wage settlement.

other banks are not getting pension benefit and after this agreement they will get the pension benefit. the state bank employees are already getting pension and moreover there is no burden of saqllary increase on the govt, bank are prepared to pay the increase from their own funds. the employees are giving much more profit to the bank and wants to get the increase at par with the CENTRAL GOVT EMPLOYEES,this is a right and proper demand of the S B I employees. Govt should consider this favourably and do the justice with them.

I can not understand by what yard stick central government has hiked pay scales of central government employees. Why no preconditions were stipulated before implementation of the pay structure. The salaries of the employees of Cent. government has made quantum jump but not their accountability or performance and government doesn't seem to bother on this count. For God's sake don't waste tax payers money like this. Corruption has not decreased and some of the employees still hanker for coveted posts where they can make extra money. Jai ho!
On the other hand you have bank employees demanding increase in wage hike. On what grounds these PSU employees are demanding wage hike? The profit of these bank's mainly consist of "income from treasury business". - i.e. through investments in government securities. The operational profit is low. Bank's now need more responsible officers and their salaries should increase but
the jobs undertaken by bank clerks is not worth more than
Rs.15000/=.

You are right Somnath. Govt is the culprit in perpetuating these wage revision issues. It is beyond comprehension how the central govt employees get such fatty salaries without commensurate work. This anamoly leads to undeserving demands from banks and others. Govt should send half the employees to save on tax payers money and tighten the grip on banks for improving the productivity. SBI gets business by virtue of its size and not due to any contribution from its employees. They should justify their contribution before making demands. They should not compare with private banks where job security is compromised.

salary hike is justified for banks. Don't compare a pvt bank with sbi/ psu bank. all pvt banks fool customers under some fine print/ unwritten statements and deprive the customer of his funds. - pre-payment, min bal chgs below the stipulated amt of 5k or more. try to do banking with them n u will realise. sbi / psu banks accept a baln from customer of 500 also to open a/c/ do your so called efficient pvt banks do this.
even after doing so they cant generate sufficient profits. job security is not an issue. it how well the job is performed and how many mid-low end customers are taken care of is the issue. pvt banks are only for hni's. you go to them with 5l for stdr/tdr and they will dance to your tune to get the money. not the case with sbi/psu banks. you go with 1000 for a stdr/tdr you will be serviced.
yes govt employees are a pampered lot. they want salaries and also money fro doing the job. be it state or central. they have more time to do their personal jobs - be it the society job where the flat is taken on loan from govt funds and sublet to generate more funds for themselves and all nefarious activities being carried out like running mess service without licence from local authorities and whiling away official time going to courts / quasi juducial bodies. all this is done at govt expense - using govt stationery, staff from dept to cars etc. - JAI HO!!!!!!!
these bloody govt officers/ staff should be sacked without any benefits as they have a substantial cover made by themselves. No banker (clerk to sr management) has the time to do all this non-sense. Vande Mataram!!!!!
in short it is JAI HO (service from all for khud ka benefit) v/s Vande Mataram (service to all with out khud ka benefit).

Despite the wage increase, the sector is a high risk, low paid and less charming for employees and also fresh job seekers. Unions could not able to do the justice to their Comrades with present settlement. Employees simply lost by way of salary cuts due to frequent strikes for wage settlement which could not fetch a reasonable settlement. The stand of AISBOF in this context is very much correct.

sir, let me know what special you are doing to deserve higher salaries. Your bank is no different
from any other PSU bank. Remember if you evaluate the value of job being done by a clerical
staff of SBI, you will be surprised to know that job worth double the quantum can be got done at half the salary you people are presently getting! Pl. count your blessings that you are being served by the benevolent management of SBI and it is not the other way round.
