Back in September when the work on revamping the Sawai Gandharva website began, the developers at India Magic Eye Pvt Ltd (IMEPL) were faced with two daunting tasks — making the site more fun, interactive and user-friendly, and collating data, corroborating facts and creating a huge archive of material that could be readily accessed by anyone.

Four months later, most of the work relating to both these aspects stands complete. Officially launched on December 4, the new website www.sawaigandharvabhimsenmahotsav.com not only has a fresh outlook but also has data going 50 years back in time.

Aditi Sathe, the creative head of the interactive division at IMEPL, says: “We began working on both aspects simultaneously. One team worked on amassing the facts and the other on the design. Right from the beginning, we were clear about making it more interactive on the lines of international websites. We have completed phase one of the same wherein we have already worked with a lot of data retention on the site.”

Under the new look, there is information about the artistes performing, their biography and also archive pictures of famous artistes who have performed in the past. Sathe adds: “We have collated information from the last 50 years. Anyone can search for any artiste from any year and will have the information. The data compiled is from 1962 to 2012. In fact, there is separate information about the legendary artistes, their biography and performances in the festival.”

The site has already received around 11,000 hits
