Hyderabad: : Satyam Computer Services Ltd (SCSL) has decided to make it big in the $29 billion business intelligence and data warehousing (BI & DW) global market by sprucing up its offerings and developing value-added skills.
Having gained experience and domain knowledge in verticals like insurance, healthcare, banking and finance, automotive, telecom, FMCG, oil and gas, Satyam is targeting hundreds of millions of dollars in the next three years.
Speaking to eFE here, Satyam Computers senior vice-president Vijay Prasad and principal consultant and general manager Kiran Cavale said the company has gained a clear advantage over others in tapping the fast-emerging BI & DW market. “BI & DW would become the major contributor for Satyam Computers in the near future,” Mr Prasad added.
“With the growing need for real-time data integration, Satyam is now in the process of integrating technologies such as enterprise application integration (EAI) and Web services with BI & DW practice,” he said.
“Satyam has set a target to achieve hundreds of millions of dollars in the three years’ time and substantially increase the manpower to exploit the growing potential. Apart from the above verticals, we are aggressively going for two more important verticals transport and logistics to be more competitive in the BI & DW market space,” Mr Cavale said.
Satyam, which has executed nearly 75 projects in the last two years under BI & DW, has set up a dedicated team, claimed to be the largest ever by any company in Asia-Pacific, they said. Currently, the division has more than 300 professionals. The company has also set up a Centre of Excellence to undertake high-level research into BI & DW technologies. One of the key objective is to convert the learning gained from projects into technology best practices and undertake benchmark studies, he said.
With tool-level competency getting commoditised, the BI & DW division focus would be on developing more value-added skills for undertaking solution architecting, they said. “Satyam has already tested resource ramp-up models, which helps the company to go beyond to access the vast resource pool of the entire Satyam network,” Mr Cavale claimed.
In order to reduce time-to-market and the overall cost of the solution, the BI & DW division is now ready with an IP called BI-Chasis, which is a framework for speedy execution of BI and management dashboard solutions. “Based on reusable components and CWM standards, BI-Chasis slashes solution deployment time up to 30 per cent,” said Mr Prasad.
