SummarySalman Khan's 'Jai Ho' box office collections under intense spotlight after Dhoom 3 miracle.

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's 'Jai Ho' box office collections are under spotlight to see who is the real No. 1 in Bollywood. "Jai Ho' finally hit the silver screen on Friday, which is Salman Khan's first release in 16 months.

Now, the question in everyone's mind – including those of Salman Khan, Aamir Khan and Hrithik Roshan, not to mention Shah Rukh Khan, fans – is whether 'Jai Ho' will be able to beat Dhoom 3 record-breaking box office collections, or for that matter reach anywhere near Krrish 3 and Chennai Express.

Apart from having several other records under its belt, Aamir Khan-starrer Dhoom 3 has the highest opening day domestic box office collections of Rs 36.22 crore as well as the highest single day collections of Rs 38.03 crore. Dhoom 3 also holds the highest opening weekend and opening week box office collection records with Rs 107.61 crore and Rs 188.99 crore respectively.

Though 'Jai Ho' has created lots of buzz and initial reports are positive, it remains to be seen whether it will be able to get anywhere near the never before seen numbers of Dhoom 3, even though it has crowd puller Salman Khan in the lead role.

Going for Dhoom 3, and against 'Jai Ho', is the fact that Salman Khan's film has not really received great billing in reviews. However, Salman has always been able to surprise every one and power ahead of the pack and this time expectations are rife he will manage to get traction.

'Jai Ho' is a remake of the Telugu blockbuster 'Stalin', which starred Chiranjeevi. For the first time, Salman Khan plays a social crusader with a bleeding conscience who can't watch the poor and the under-privileged being ill-treated. The film, directed by Salman's brother Sohail Khan, also features Daisy Shah, Tabu, Genelia D’Souza, Mahesh Manjrekar and Santosh Shukla and Sana Khan of the Bigg Boss fame among others.
