Coimbatore: About 3,000 workers of National Textile Mill (NTC) in Tamil Nadu would get a hike of Rs 560 each in their monthly pay, after a new wage agreement was signed between the management and trade unions.

The agreement was signed yesterday between NTC Chief Manager Chokkalingam and general manager Radhakrishna Nair and representatives of AITUC, CITU, INTUC, HMS, LPF, MLF, ATP and BMS.

The agreement would be with effect from January 2008 and each employee would get an arrear of Rs 6,000, NTC sources said.

There are seven NTC mills in the state -- five in Coimbatore and one each in Sivaganga and Ramanathapuram districts.
