There was high drama at Panjab University’s Ankur School on Tuesday after a few parents created a ruckus, during the draw of lots for admission to kindergarten classes, alleging that they were not informed by the school to drop acknowledgement slips into the box.

The school started the procedure of draw of lots at 11.30 am while some parents came late around 11.40 am and created the ruckus when they found that acknowledgement slips containing information about their children were not in the box that contained various slips.

Nearly 2,030 applications have been received for 150 seats, of which, 38 seats are reserved for the economically weaker sections (EWS). Similarly 56 seats are for PU employees and 56 seats for outsiders. PU security personnel, however, reached the spot and controlled the situation while the school authorities continued with their work. Some parents have threatened to take the matter to court.

Gautam, a parent, said that nobody informed us that we had to drop acknowledgement slips in the box. The school cannot change the rules at this time, he added. One of parents said that those who came late had no right to create drama as the draw of lots started on time.
