The Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) Wednesday cancelled the results of 345 students who appeared for the pre-medical test (PMT) held in July.

Some of these students have already taken admission in government medical colleges. A five-member committee of the board concluded that these students were allotted roll numbers by manipulating the seating arrangement in collusion with the staff.

The committee examined the reports submitted by the special task force (STF) and crime branch of Indore that probed the PMT scam, which came to light with the arrests of 20 candidates in Indore.

The investigating agencies filed a chargesheet in an Indore court last week against 28 people, including kingpins of three modules that operated the racket in collaboration with board officials.

A supplementary chargesheet will be filed against former controller of examination of MPPEB Pankaj Trivedi, who was arrested last week.

Ashish Khare, a senior STF official, told The Indian Express that the number of students under scanner was as high as 876.

The chargesheet described how MPPEB officials manipulated the seating arrangement inside the examination hall to ensure that those who were part of the racket got preferred seats. The racket involved getting meritorious students, who had been paid money, to help students who paid up to Rs 25 lakh to cheat during the examination.
