: government spending on education, specifically on skill acquisition and expanded training, as well as making access to “health care easier and more effective” could offset the inequalities to some degree. That makes sense, even if it is not a particularly novel suggestion.

In the end, the reader is left wishing that El-Erian were as clear about the

causes of the global financial transformation, and the appropriate policy responses to it, as he is about how to realise its benefits.
