Raging bull thunders around BIC
Celebrating its 50th year of existence, the Italian sports car maker Lamborghini recently hosted a track day at the Buddh International Circuit at Greater Noida near New Delhi. The initiative was aimed at giving potential customers and current customers a chance to feel the power and technical abilities of the Lamborghini Gallardo range in track conditions.
The event, which also marked the launch of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 and Gallardo LP 570-4 Supperleggera Edizione in India, was divided in two formats. Driving coaches took motoring journalists around the track explaining the braking points, apex and exit points of each turn around the track for a lap before we got our hands on the wheels of the two new launches. The hot laps were led by a lead car, a Lamborghini Gallardo 550-2, driven by one of the Lamborghini driving instructors, while two cars had to follow with no overtaking. Plastic cones at each of the corners’ braking points, entry, apex and exit were provided as a guide for drivers.
This was the first such event by Lamborghini in India. The German company Mercedes-Benz, Lamborghini’s parent company Audi and British sports car maker Jaguar have already hosted such events. Lamborghini, which sold 14 cars last year in India, expects to sell 17 this year.
