Qateel murder: Yerawada police get Mohol, Bhalerao’s custody
The Yerawada police on Monday got the custody of Sharad Mohol and Alok Bhalerao in the alleged murder case of IM operative Qateel Siddiqui. A Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team visited the Yerawada jail premises on Monday where Qateel was allegedly strangled to death for investigation.
Qateel, an IM operative whose role in various terror strikes in the country was being investigated, was allegedly strangled to death by two notorious criminals Mohol and Bhalerao, also lodged in the high security Anda cell of the Yerawada jail on Friday morning.
Senior police inspector Kishor Jadhav, investigating the case said, “We got the custody of the two on Monday morning. They were arrested after medical examination and other formalities. They will be produced before the magistrate court on Tuesday.”
The magistrate court and Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act court on Sunday issued transfer warrants against the two accused on Sunday.
Meanwhile, as per state government orders, the CID on Monday started a parallel inquiry into the murder.
Superintendent of police, CID, Pune unit, Amol Tambe told Newsline, “During the CID team’s Yerawada jail visit, the spot was inspected also inmates were questioned.”
Additional superintendent of police (flying squad) and investigating officer Kalidas Suryavanshi refused to divulge further information about the inquiry.
